Closing Argument
It is perhaps appropriate
that your initials
were already taken
almost a decade ago,
as if I have nothing else
to say on the subject,
and writing about you
is just a formality,
a closing argument
for the court of my heart,
one with an overly-long docket
—despite the lifetimes lived
between now and then.
—It’s not,
I must clarify;
these words are yours
for whatever that’s worth
amongst the greens and blues,
the air whose scent
you do not know,
that I still wish to share
sketches of
with you.
